Welcome to the Office of Accessibility
The staff of the Office of Accessibility would like to welcome you to our office and to The University of Akron.
Our goal is to provide reasonable accommodations and a supportive, well-resourced environment to students with disabilities in order to promote student success in the university environment.
This mission goes well beyond the legal requirements, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, and supports the University's commitment to create an accessible and welcoming environment for all students.
Dear Members of The University of Akron Community,
As the situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to evolve, the health and well-being of our campus community is a priority. Our top priority is to support The University of Akron community through virtual delivery of services and accommodations. Currently, the Office of Accessibility will be operating via online through email and pre-scheduled phone meetings, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. All appointments will be conducted via phone or virtually until further notice. Current students already registered with the Office of Accessibility should log into STARS and their University email for frequent updates and critical communication related to accommodations and services. Additionally, students should connect with their assigned Disability Specialist to help navigate current accommodation plans.
Faculty, staff, and other community members should email the Office of Accessibility at email@example.com with questions and to schedule virtual appointments.
We look forward to continuing to support our campus community during this temporary in-person closure.
